What the policy Covers?

Hospitalization cover: You are covered for all in-patient hospitalization expenses in case of accidents / illnesses covered under the policy up to the amount of the sum insured that you choose, provided your stay in the hospital exceeds 48 hours

Pre and Post-hospitalization: All expenses relating to the illness / accident that led to the hospitalization, incurred 30 days prior to and 60 days after hospitalization.

Outpatient care: Certain cases like kidney stone removal, tonsillectomy, eye surgery, D&C and cataract that require less than 48 hours of hospitalization are also covered. Cataract is covered only from the second year of insurance.

 
 

Exclusions:

The Company shall not be liable to make any payment under this Policy in respect of any expenses whatsoever incurred by any Insured Person in connection with or in respect of:

  1. Pre-existing Condition: Such diseases/injury, which have been in existence at the time of proposing this insurance. Pre-existing condition also means any sickness or its symptoms, which existed prior to the effective date of this insurance, whether or not the Insured Person had knowledge that the symptoms were relating to the sickness. Complications arising from preexisting disease will be considered part of that preexisting condition. Pre existing diseases will be covered after 5 years of continuous insurance with us.
  2. 30 Days Waiting Period: Any disease contracted by the Insured Person during the first 30 days from the commencement date of the Policy. This exclusion shall however, not apply if in the opinion of Panel of Medical Practitioners constituted by the Company for the purpose, the Insured Person could not have known of the existence of the Disease or any symptoms or complaints thereof at the time of making the proposal for insurance to the Company.
  3. First Year Exclusions: During the first year of the operation of the Policy the expenses on treatment of

    a. Cataract, Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy, Hysterectomy for Menorrhagia or Fibromyoma, Hernia, Hydrocele, Congenital Internal Diseases, Fistula in Anus, Piles, Sinusitis are not payable for all Insured Persons.

    b. any heart, kidney and circulatory disorders are not payable for all Insured Persons suffering from hypertension / diabetes. If these diseases are pre-existing at the time of proposal they shall not be covered even during subsequent period of renewal.

    Note : 30 Days Waiting Period Exclusion and First Year Exclusion shall be waived for Insured Persons holding an existing Health Insurance Policy provided the Policy is renewed before the expiry date of the existing Health Insurance Policy.
  4. Treatment arising from or traceable to pregnancy/ childbirth
  5. Circumcision unless necessary for treatment of a disease not excluded hereunder or as may be necessitated due to an accident.
  6. Any treatment relating to change of life.
  7. The cost of spectacles, contact lenses and hearing aids.
  8. Dental treatment or surgery of any kind unless requiring hospitalization.
  9. Convalescence, general debility, ‘Run-down condition or rest cure, congenital external disease or defects or anomalies, sterility, venereal disease, intentional self-injury.
  10. All expenses arising out of any condition directly or indirectly caused by or associated with Human T-Cell Lymphotropic Virus Type III (HTLB-III) or Lymphadenopathy Associated Virus (LAV) or the Mutants Derivative or variations Deficiency Syndrome or any Syndrome or condition of a similar kind commonly referred to as AIDS.
  11. Charges incurred at Hospital or Nursing Home primarily for diagnostic, X-ray or laboratory examinations or other diagnostic studies not consistent with or incidental to the diagnosis and treatment of the positive existence or presence of any ailment, sickness or injury, for which confinement is required at a Hospital/Nursing Home as defined.
  12. Expenses on vitamins and tonics unless forming part of treatment for injury or disease as certified by the attending Physician.
  13. Voluntary medical termination of pregnancy during the first 12 weeks from the date of conception.
  14. Injury or disease directly or indirectly caused by or contributed to by nuclear weapons/materials or radioactive contamination
  15. Injury or disease directly or indirectly caused by or arising from or attributable to War, Invasion, Act of Foreign Enemy, Warlike Operations (whether war be declared or not).
  16. Any claim or expense of any kind caused directly or indirectly by:
    1. Ionising radiation or contamination by any nuclear fuel or from any nuclear waste from burning nuclear fuel or
    2. Radioactive, toxic, explosive or other dangerous properties of any explosive nuclear machinery or part of it.
  17. Any routine or preventative examinations, vaccinations, inoculation or screening.
  18. Outpatient treatment charges.
  19. Sex change or treatment which results from, or is in any way related to, sex change.
  20. Hormone replacement therapy.
  21. Renal dialysis, except where this is in connection with acute secondary failure and is part of the intensive treatment.
  22. The treatment of psychiatric, mental or nervous conditions, insanity.
  23. Any cosmetic, plastic surgery, aesthetic or related treatment of any description, whether or not for psychological reasons, unless medically necessary as a result of an accident.
  24. Use of intoxicating drugs / alcohol and the treatment of alcoholism, solvent abuse, drug abuse or any addiction and medical conditions resulting from, or related to, such abuse or addiction.
  25. Any treatment received in convalescent homes, convalescent hospitals, health hydros, nature cure clinics or similar establishments.
  26. Any stay in hospital for any domestic reason or where there is no active regular treatment by a specialist.
  27. Any treatment received outside India.
  28. Industrial disaster.
  29. Any Ayurvedic, Homeopathic, Naturopathy or any other form of local medication.
  30. Complication of any surgery, therapy or treatment administered on the Insured Person which is not prescribed or required by a Registered Medical Practitioner/Registered Medical Institution in their professional capacity.
  31. Taking of drug unless it is taken on proper medical advice and is not for the treatment of drug addiction.
  32. Any fertility, sub-fertility or assisted conception operation.
  33. Any person whilst engaging in speed contest or racing of any kind (other than on foot), bungee jumping, parasailing, ballooning, parachuting, skydiving, paragliding, hang gliding, mountain or rock climbing necessitating the use of guides or ropes, pot holing, abseiling, deep sea diving using hard helmet and breathing apparatus, polo, snow and ice sports and activities & similar hazard.
  34. Any Person whilst engaging in aviation, whilst mounting into or dismounting from or travelling in any aircraft other than as a passenger (fare paying or otherwise) in any duly licensed standard type of aircraft anywhere in the world.

[Standard type of Aircraft means any aircraft duly licensed to carry passengers (for hire or otherwise) by appropriate authority irrespective of whether such an aircraft is privately owned or chartered or operated by a regular airline or whether such an aircraft has a single engine or multiple engine.]
